Traffic

Can Empire Ave. handle the increased traffic?

  • How residents will enter/exit the building, specifically the building at the end of Fairview and across the street from Fairview
  • How will increased vehicular traffic circling the neighborhood looking for parking affect our community?
  • How will increased foot traffic from residents and guests walking through the neighborhood to/from cars, and an increase in noise, especially at night affect our community?
  • How will residents get to stores, restaurants, and shopping if they don’t have cars?
    • Has the City of Burbank conducted a traffic impact study on Empire Street?
    • Is the City of Burbank going to create pedestrian crossing along Empire Street? We already have workers from the companies on Ontario Street crossing in the middle of the street to get to their cars.
  • The transit station on Empire Blvd. is for Metrolink, not an intracity subway. With limited bus accessibility and no direct access to intracity trains, how will those without cars get to their destination?

Parking Concerns

The primary issue is parking. Currently, the SB-35 Empire buildings will construct 616 new units with 85 parking spaces. Where will new residents, visitors, and people attending events at Gross Park park?

Safety Concerns

616 new units are designed for extremely low income people. Will the City of Burbank increase police presence? Will any of the units be used for transitional housing?
